MSH Healthcare, a leading home care provider based in Barrow-in-Furness and serving clients throughout Cumbria, is proud to announce the launch of its first-ever mentorship programme designed to support and develop new members of its care staff. This initiative underscores MSH Healthcare's commitment to fostering a supportive and enriching environment for its employees and ensuring the highest quality of care for its clients.
Eleven experienced and dedicated members of staff have been hand-selected to serve as mentors. Each mentor has embraced this leadership role with enthusiasm and completed specialised in-house training to prepare for the responsibility.
"It feels good to support someone who is just starting out or facing the challenges I've experienced myself," said Clayton Mguni, new mentor. "I hope to provide the kind of support people hope for when beginning a new role, especially when I remember how many questions I had in my first week. Sometimes, a little reassurance is all it takes to help someone move forward with confidence."
While new care staff already undergo shadow shifts during their initial induction, they’ll now shadow their assigned mentors, gaining invaluable practical experience and learning real-world applications in a live care setting. Beyond initial shadowing, mentors will provide ongoing support, serving as a continuous resource for any questions or needs new staff may have as they grow into their roles. With many new hires entering the field without prior care experience, this programme provides the tools, guidance, and confidence needed to succeed — addressing both the growing demand for quality care and the need for strong staff retention.
"We are incredibly excited about the launch of our mentorship programme," said Dana Wallwork, Operations Manager at MSH Healthcare. "This mentorship program is a powerful expression of our unwavering commitment to professional growth at MSH Healthcare. By connecting new team members with experienced mentors, we’re not just helping them settle in — we’re equipping them with the training, support, and confidence they need to succeed, especially those who are new to the care sector. We’re confident this program will empower every participant to thrive, building a strong, capable, and inspired workforce that delivers exceptional care to the individuals and families we proudly serve."
This initiative marks a meaningful investment in the future of MSH Healthcare’s team and care standards, reinforcing its role as a trusted leader in home care throughout Cumbria.
